so wow. thanksgivin.' probably the highlight of the month, no doubt
my holiday technically started on tuesday, at approx. 10am because that's when i was home and done w/ school! normally tuesday is a busy day for me because i have homework, a physical science lab (an abomination, if you ask me) and break dance club in the afternoon/evening. but i had the whole day to talk to my brothers and mom on skype--the dew of the gods.
on wednesday ali (my roomate and i) had the whole apartment to ourselves for much of the day; we cleaned up the dishes, kitchen, our bedrooms, ect. so the apartment looked really nice and clean! *sigh* i wonder how long THAT'LL last. we just did practical things like take out the trash so our apartment wouldn't schtink up. *gag* my aunt drove down from West Jordan to pick us up (we were lugging laundry!) and we went to a restaurant only in provo called Brick Oven. it was most excellent. :P
we arrived kinda late at night; it sure felt late because it gets so dark so early now, but it was nice being out of the apartment. well, i needed a break, but ali hasn't left the apartment overnight for anything since school started! so she's been super excited the whole time and loved my aunt's small and quaint house.
instead of sleeping in like i pretty much deserve, we woke up at....7 i think to get ready for a big 5k food drive race down in Draper. we met up w/ my cousins so ali got to meet them all (5 cousins, plus three spouses--we're chuck full of newlyweds!) it was pretty cold, plus rainy, so i wore layers! double pants, shirts and hoodies--good thing no double socks! i was warm, though; if only my glasses didn't fog up! i basically ran/walked in intervals. run a little; walk a little. i thought it would take me forever, but it took me roughly 45 min. to complete! that just happens to be good for me--i suck thoroughly at running! we came home, showered, napped, and i did some research for my job; i'm a research assistant now for one of my religion professors. we then went and stuffed our faces w/ food at my cousins' house. it was super fun and we took many pictures! we disected the newspaper and studied all the black friday sales to see what we were interested in waking up early for.
and boy did we wake up early! 4:45am early!!
we met up w/ gilly (cousin) and mandy (cousins' wife) and drove and shopped at the following places:
Smith's Marketplace,
Circuit City
Old Navy
Barnes and Noble
Kohl's
Bath & Body Works
Michaels'
Deseret Book
we shopped for a total of 6.5 HOURS. i had a blast. waking up wasn't fun (i went to bed late!) and waiting in line was a pain, but i got ahead on christmas shopping for my family--i just need something to send to travis...but what to send? it's sort of a dilhema. lol i barely got anything for myself and i spent my money wisely--i spent a grand total of $43 today! there was a LOT of good deals, but i didn't want to buy stuff i didn't need--just things for me family. if i bought everything i like, i wouldn't have money for groceries!! :)
*sigh* christmas has REALLY snuck up on me. doesn't it seem like summer was only last week?? maybe i'm too busy w/ school to really notice. but i love the christmas atmosphere! it's truly magical...except angry women waiting in line to pay. that's not magical. it's torture, really. but besides that!!
i bought a small wreath today at Michaels' for $2.50 and some ribbon *yay* to start up our christmas decorating! *sing song voice* it was a major steal and ali was like "it's so cute you HAVE to get it!" seeing how it was one of the last stops before lunch and she had spent $60--but i don't think she got anything for herself; a lot for her bf because he's about to go on his mission and his birthday is this weekend.
yeah. there were so many christmas decorations--i don't know how i avoided buying it all! i really want our apartment to look super festive this year. :)
so i still feel stuffed. i can't help but think i'm almost at the 1/4 mark of travis' mission....but who's counting? :/

Jeg vil kelde dig. [i will tickle you!]
so my life is WACK.
school is actually pretty fun, and i don't mind waking up too early--staying up too late reading the twilight series is pretty much worth it. it seems like every night, is new, fresh and fun.
monday nights--fhe w/ some of the most hilarious people alive
tuesday nights--break dance club; 'nough said
wednesday nights--enrichment if i'm lucky (this time we watched disney's mulan and gorged on popcorn)
thursday nights--whatever pleases me, which is very nice; i can either relax, splurge on groceries @ walmart or eat theraputic ice cream w/ my roomates; whatever i say goes
friday nights--as weird as it sounds, cleaning night. i hate doing work on saturdays because that in itself has so many things i have to do--it's a good way to get my chores out of the way and pesky homework assignments out of my hair. can you believe it? one of the first things we established in our apartment was a) the "chastity" line--a line by our hallway where boys aren't allowed to pass (they have easy access to our comfortable couches, table and sadly, our kitchen) and a chore wheel. our carpets look LOVELY right now, because it's leaf-free. fall has surely fallen and has made its way into our apartment.
it's amazing. my roomates and i have become so comfortable w/ each other, it's not even funny. i mean, it's not like it was awkward, but you have to imagine, i've only been living w/ these people for--what?--2 1/2 months or so? that's not a very long time, and we are so different from everyone else, we're all trying to figure out our lives, how to survive each day that comes and where we want to be at the end of it all. not to mention--who's gonna clean up all those dishes?? absolutely.
but i've noticed that i've become SO comfortable w/ all of them--and i can tell, because my sarcasm, bluntness and sharpness is bubbling to the surface. i hope they don't take me for a apathetic weirdo for all the things that i spit out sometimes. if i had to pick the five girls i wanted to live w/ the first few months away from family...i wouldn't pick anyone else!
okay, enough of the crap. everyone wants to know--HOW'S THE SOCIAL LIFE?
what social life? haha
just kidding. so i guess something's happening, but it's scaring the crap out of me.
boy#1 is chris, a guy i met on a sort of "blind" date. aka, i wasn't asked by him to go on this double date and i'd only briefly met him once before and thought he was kinda cute. apparantly he's FRIGGING SHY because it's been 3 weeks and he hasn't said a word to me, even something mild and innocent as "so how was your halloween?" i suppose i shouldn't worry; he's a "premie" after all. vocab lesson: premie= a young man that hasn't served an LDS mission but plans to do so once he gets his "mission call" or letter that says where he's been called to serve. aka, he won't be thinking of steady dating, or serious relationships in order to "focus."
RIIIIIIGHT.
boy#2 is david, a guy in my ward, and he lives in my same apartment complex. he's really nice, and i found out that he's a military brat, too. i knew i was bound to meet one sooner or later. he called me yesterday to ask me if i could go bowling that night. i kinda think it was sort of last minute, but i actually made plans to go to storyteller's club (my friend has been bugging me all semester to go). so i felt super bad and i had made plans to go watch WALL-E at our BYU dollar theater tonight, so i sort of asked him to come w/ me to compensate for yesterday. i dunno, it seems like whenever he calls me, i'm never there to pick up the phone, so i don't want him to think i'm trying to avoid him. he's not...weird, but i don't want to go on "i really like you dates." i just want to go sort of as...friends? can i handle a real relationship...w/ someone that i see every sunday?? kind of awkward.
and obviously, i've had a unique dating experience. it's one of those weird instances where i ACTUALLY found a real, affectionate guy that is pretty much everything i could ever want in a person and we dated for a few years before he went on HIS mission (to Santa Maria, Brazil mission!) so i've never *technically* broken up w/ someone before, or done anything w/ someone BESIDES travis (the guy mentioned in previous sentences). i've got serious feelings towards travis and i...don't want to mess w/ that. but he wanted me to not be a hermit in college, and dad made me promise to be nice to boys, so i'm trying. i'm not desperately throwing myself out there saying, "PLEASE DATE ME!!!PLEASE!" but i'm still going to as many fun things as possible to meet people. there's so many good-looking guys in our ward and they make the perfect guy friends ever.
anyway. so there.
*sigh* it's been merely months, and i'm not sure how much my roomates notice...but i miss travis every day of my life. it's an endurance thing; i WILL be in texas to see him when he comes back in two years minus 3 months, but sometimes reading letters once a week doesn't cut it. it's been done before, and i find myself to be patient. but it's not like i forget about him or have already moved on like so many ditzy girls do. i'm so much more than that; i'm different. he's different. most guys can't stand being w/ the same girl for a week, month tops. he's been there for me...at least 4 years now. no one can compare to him, not even close.
haha, poor david--we're meeting to watch the movie in 2 hours! i promise i'll behave. i hope i don't hurt his feelings. he is a really nice guy.
